How to tell if your condenser and evaporator coils need cleaning?

If your factory or workplace has an air conditioner, coil cleaning should be part of the maintenance to make sure the unit is running at optimal level. To briefly explain the function of these coils, the evaporator coils absorb the heat and humidity from the air in your work space, and the condenser coils release the heat outside of your building.

So when dirt and debris build up and cover these two important components of the air conditioner, it can’t transfer heat effectively and can result in all kinds of performance and efficiency problems.

So how do you know if your condenser and evaporator coil need cleaning and what can you do to prevent dirt buildup on your coils?

As a general rule, you need to clean your condenser and evaporator coils twice per year. However, we recommend more frequent cleaning in the following instances:

• Location

The closer your workspace or factory is to busy streets, construction, or demolition activities, the more often your coils need cleaning.

• The Age of your AC unit

Older AC systems are more likely or more prone to accumulate dirt and debris faster so it requires more cleaning.

• Your Usage

The higher the load or usage, the more your AC unit will accumulate dirt and debris. If so, you’ll need to have the coils cleaned more frequently.

The condenser and evaporator coils are sensitive and expensive parts of the air conditioner, thus cleaning these is best left to the professionals. If you use the wrong type of cleaning products, you face risk of electric shock or damage your AC unit.
