Easy Ways to Get Rid of Cobwebs from Ceiling and High Spot Areas

After months or even years of neglect, ceilings attract cobwebs that make your warehouse, depot or factory look dirty and old. In workplaces where hygiene is essential, such as those associated with food or medical supplies, we recommend you enlist trained cleaning specialists to clean the following areas on a regular basis:

Most of these areas are hard to reach, tricky to clean, and often neglected. They require the right methods and tools, such as high level cleaning machines, scaffolding or specialist equipment, to implement your cleaning job.

Here are some easy ways to get rid of cobwebs from areas within reach:

1. Use a vacuum cleaner

Many vacuums come with a long extension that is great for removing cobwebs. You may need specialist equipment to reach the highest spots. If you are planning to use this cleaning equipment to get rid of cobwebs, make use of the brush attachment for best results - if you don’t have a brush attachment, secure a rag or sock to the end of your vacuum nozzle with a rubber band.

2. Sweep with a broom

Since we often use brooms for cleaning floors, it is important that when using a broom to clean ceilings it is thoroughly cleaned in order to stop any dirty marks being left on the surface. Sweep lightly to minimise contact with textured ceilings and lessen the dirt remaining on these areas. However, take note that using a broom makes it difficult to clean and remove cobwebs from tight spaces. Again, depending on the height of your ceilings, a broom may not be effective and specialist equipment may be necessary.

3. Use a cobweb brush

A cobweb brush is designed to clean wall corners, cobwebs, window screens and more. This kind of duster clicks onto extension poles for easy high reach cleaning. If you don't own or don't want to purchase this cleaning tool, you can improvise by attaching a cloth or rag to the end of a long rod or dowel.

4. Hire a professional cleaner

To clean hard to reach and high spot areas properly, it is best that an experienced professional cleaner does the job for you. Expert cleaners have the right tools, cleaning equipment and proper training to perform the job efficiently.
